All in Wedding Photography
I don't remember when I first heard about Cliff Mautner, but it was probably about three years ago as I was just getting started with my photography business.
Every time his work was discussed by fellow photographers, it was almost in the reverent tones used when speaking of a spiritual guru...or at least a master artist.
For those who aren't photographers, let me mention that there are hundreds (maybe thousands) of photography coaches, mentors, and workshops to choose from. If you are paying attention, you learn that many of them do not have your best interests at heart...they take your hard-earned money and return a few morsels of information, lots of pep talk, a “You can do it!” mantra, and send you on your way.
I had been looking forward to Roberto & Jamie's Edmonds Yacht Club wedding since photographing their engagement session last fall. These two are the real deal: very much in love, best friends, fun-loving, and romantic. (Yes, I learned all of that while spending time with them on their engagement shoot!)
I knew I liked them when they brought out the Seahawks jerseys to wear for part of their engagement session!
When I was a little girl, I remember being a bit obsessed with my mom's scrapbook album. Even though the book was nearly falling apart, I never tired of turning the big, black pages, pulling them close to my face, and studying the people in the photos.
I would peer at the faces of my parents as 20-year olds, put the book down, and then the questions would begin. "What did you think the first time you met Dad?" I'd ask. I remember Mom telling me that she was getting so old that she often didn't remember all of the details. I was horrified, wondering how anyone could forget those things!

Recently, I was asked by the lovely Amber Peterson to share my top tips for couples planning their wedding photography. Amber happens to own Cheers Wedding & Event Planning and she was kind enough to share my answers on her own blog. If you're looking for a wedding or event planner, I highly recommend Amber! You can check out her blog here.
Honestly, when I first looked at the list of questions, my mind went blank! (Only because there was so much I could say.)
Jami and Bjorn are a fun, adventurous couple who love hiking, fishing, hunting, and nature. (Bjorn is a commercial fisherman, so he comes by it naturally.) Oh, and they love dogs, so they are my kind of people!
The 90-degree sun glared down as I exited my car and made my way down the pathway to the banks of the river just outside Wenatchee, Washington. As I passed sagebrush on either side, hauling my camera, lenses, and a paltry single bottle of water, a few other women joined me and we began talking excitedly about why we were there.
Besides being a photographer, I'm also a wife and a mom. A little over a year ago, my daughter got engaged and was married six months later. Within that span of time, I learned ALL about planning a wedding and, of course, I wanted my daughter to have beautiful wedding photography (no, I didn't take the photos; I wanted to relax and enjoy the day!).
I'm so excited to finally share photos from the incredible vintage wedding shoot, sponsored by Beyond the Wanderlust, near Portland, Oregon!
The shoot was held at an amazing 1890 Victorian estate called Clackamas River Farm, surrounded by pastoral land and old growth trees. Ee-gads! Nirvana for photographers!
I am w-a-a-y-y past due in blogging Nichole and Kodie's wedding! I feel bad about that, but when the flu bug takes a big bite out of your life, whaddya gonna do?
On December 29th, 2012, I was honored to take wedding and reception photos for Nichole and Kodie, who (as you will see), are one heckuva gorgeous couple! Their wedding took place at the beautiful Skagit Valley Casino Resort, which was still decorated with twinkling Christmas lights, adding to the festive and gorgeous atmosphere.
